Draft countdown: Pick No. 14

Overview: There haven't been many studs drafted at the this spot in the past 10 years, although the league's top corner was selected 14th overall, which helps balance the scale. In the past 10 drafts, PFW found that the players chosen with the No. 14 pick, which is held by the Rams this year, have not held their weight for the most part:

2010: Seahawks select Texas FS Earl Thomas
The 21-year-old Thomas started every game for the Seahawks in his rookie season, making 76 tackles and five interceptions. He showed flashes at times, and benefited from playing next to veteran S Lawyer Milloy.

2009: Saints select Ohio State DB Malcolm Jenkins
Jenkins came on strong in '10 after making the transition from cornerback to safety in the offseason. In 15 starts, Jenkins had 64 tackles, 12 passes defensed and two interceptions.

2008: Bears select Vanderbilt OT Chris Williams
A back injury limited Williams from the get-go and he has not been able to become the left tackle the Bears were hoping for. The team moved him to guard last season, but his long-term position has not yet been decided.

2007: Jets select Pittsburgh CB Darrelle Revis
Many consider Revis the best cornerback in the NFL. A three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro selection, Revis shuts down his half of the field. He didn't have an interception last season, largely because opposing quarterbacks won't throw anywhere near him.

2006: Eagles select Florida State DT Brodrick Bunkley
Bunkley was benched last season after serving as a regular starter from 2007-09. Although he's extremely strong, Bunkley is a bit undersized and has only six sacks in his career.

2005: Panthers select Georgia DB Thomas Davis
Davis didn't play at all in '10 while recovering from a torn ACL, but he was developing into an active, solid weak-side linebacker before his injury issues began. In 2008, which is the last time he played a full 16-game season, Davis recorded 113 tackles and 3½ sacks.

2004: Bears select Oklahoma DT Tommie Harris
Harris had a good run in Chicago and ranked among the league's top defensive tackles early in his career. But, saddled by sore knees, he has dropped off in recent years and is a free agent after being cut by Chicago this offseason.

2003: Bears select Penn State DE Michael Haynes
Haynes was never more than a rotational player for the Bears, making 48 tackles and 5½ sacks in three seasons in Chicago. His career came to an end when he was cut in '06.

2002: Giants select Miami (Fla.) TE Jeremy Shockey
Shockey has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career, but he has made four Pro Bowls and was one of the league's elite tight ends earlier in his career. He recently signed with the Panthers after being cut by the Saints.

2001: Buccaneers select Florida OT Kenyatta Walker
Walker played left tackle his rookie season but switched to the right side the next year, where he remained the rest of his career. He played with the Bucs until '06 and was a starter in Super Bowl XXXVII.
