King Mo to the WWE?
From Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer newsletter:
MMA fighter King Mo Lawal, who was suspended nine months by the Nevada Commission and then fired from Strikeforce by Dana White, is interested in joining WWE. Lawal has been a long-time pro wrestling fan and has expressed interest in joining WWE in the past. Gerald Brisco recruited Lawal years ago but it never worked out as Lawal wanted to compete in the Olympics. When he didn't make the Olympic team, he started MMA instead.
Seems crazy to me, but then again I think anyone who willingly throws their body through the meatgrinder that is the WWE circuit is nuts. Let's see what sounds better: being on the road all the time performing over 150 times a year and maybe ... MAYBE ... making it to the point where you crack a six figure salary. OR stick to MMA, fight three times a year for at least 50k a pop plus sponsorships, and as a nice little bonus you get to keep your dignity. It's a good thing for Mo's career that these kinda WWE rumors almost never end up going anywhere.

Fedor loses again! This time to disgraced sumo guy turned pro wrestler Shinichi Suzukawa. Yeah it's just another one of these kooky Japanese game show things, but you know we can't pass up an opportunity to hate on Fedor. Fight someone legit, you bum!
Odds are out for the Demetrious Johnson / Ian McCall rematch and interestingly enough the bookies have Johnson as a -175 favorite over McCall at +145. While that might seem kinda silly considering McCall clearly won their first fight, this may be evidence that oddmakers take shitty judging into account when setting up lines. Johnson's got a style that keeps winning him fights he loses.
Invicta FC is an all female fight promotion that debuts in a month and they're now planning on streaming their first event online for free. Which is good because the card is stacked with quality fighters: Kaitlin Young, Sarah D’Alelio, Cat Zingano, Jessica Penne, Lisa Ward, Liz Carmouche, and Marloes Coenen to single out a few.
Cesar Gracie tells Sherdog that Nick Diaz isn't going to retire if he has anything to do with it. This is especially reassuring considering Nick Diaz is known for always doing what other people want him to do.
When Bellator hits Spike in 2013, the show is going to expand from 2 hours to 3. That means six tournaments per season instead of five, and even more interesting fights which will never happen because Bjorn Rebney refuses to be flexible about the format.
Jake Shields has decided to move back up to the 185 pound division, because that will fix all his problems. Hendo rematch, anyone?
The UFC will hit up Macao, the Las Vegas of China, by the end of the year. The event will apparently go down at the Venetian, a 2.4 billion dollar super-casino which is based on the Vegas casino with the same name.
Karo Parisyan on pain pills: "For the record, I was never addicted to pain meds. I abused pain medications without knowing." Well, I'm glad he's being honest with himself now. He'll be fighting this weekend in Texas.

Vyacheslav Vasilevsky's M-1 contract is suspiciously absent
Last week Bellator fighter Vyacheslav Vasilevsky got absolutely reamed when a Dutch court found him in breach of contract with his former promotion M-1. The penalty: 1000 euros per day since the breach, and 5000 euros per day he competes in another promotion. All in all that adds up to over half a million euros, which seems like a slightly silly amount of money to owe.
It's not exactly clear how easy it will be for M-1 to get that Dutch judgement upheld in the US. Especially considering Vasilevsky and Bellator are basically claiming M-1 doesn't even have a valid contract with the fighter. Like ... the contract may not even physically exist. Here's Vasilevsky's manager:
"When Bellator signed him back in November, I know at that point, the fighter requested – and I believe Bellator has done the same – requested a copy of the (M-1) contract," Kardan said. "If he was presented a contract, I'm pretty sure Bellator would not have signed him. I'm pretty positive of that. So for almost six months, [M-1 hasn't] presented any kind of contract that would state they do have an existing agreement with him."
Making things more interesting...
When asked to forward a copy of the fighter’s contract on the condition that it would not be published, Kogan declined, stating that the contract is an internal matter. Instead, the M-1 exec forwarded to Sherdog a copy of the signed judgment delivered in the Court of the City of Amsterdam as evidence that Vasilevsky remains under contract with the promotion.
Sound kinda fishy to you too? I'm not really against M-1 stopping fighters from breaching contracts or anything, but the dickface penalties built into their agreements make it hard (as it often is with M-1) to side with them in this situation. Especially when they can't even produce the contract in question.

Kimbo's last opponent denies taking a dive
When Kimbo Slice decided to go the pro boxing route, I figured he would be entering the realm of Don King style heads-I-win-tails-you-lose contracts and babying via cupcake opponents. But certainly it would be below boxing to organize something that wasn’t totally legitimate, savory, and above-board. In short, I figured that the days of James Thompson stoppages and standgate were behind us. But when I saw last weekend’s video of his knockout win over Brian Green with three seconds left in the fight, I had my suspicions that Gary Shaw was dicking us over from beyond the grave once again.
Even steroid expert Sean McCorkle thinks that something fishy was going on. However, Kimbo’s opponent Brian Green (who is 27-17 in MMA and weighs all of 180 lbs) says he would never take a dive for anyone. NEVER! He made his impassioned plea on the world’s official PR platform, facebook:
Finally the cloudiness of a KO Saturday night is wearing off mostly.... Still got a BROKEN ORBITAL BONE (even though I was supposedly taking a dive the whole fight and Kimbo wasn't REALLY fighting me apparently until the very last combination which he lands 3 consecutive punches ON THE BUTTON which turned out my lights)
Well, I took this biggest opportunity I ever have been given, and gave it my all. In the end, Kimbo Slice Placed 3 consecutive punches together and all three connected clean. AFTER I was winning on all 3 judges score cards..
I put everything on the line with this fight, to have thousands of people hating on me claiming I took a dive. smh. I can not believe this, and it really makes me sick.
700,000 Youtube views of people watching ONLY THE LAST ROUND (after I was gassed in the second round) where I got KO'd and 80% of them claiming I took a dive with ONLY THREE SECONDS LEFT!!!!
.... THREE SECONDS LEFT.... Who does that? seriously. . . Now I have a 60 day medical suspension and can not fight the last person who beat me in an MMA Fight 8 fights ago which leaves that promoter in a bad position :( Which I am sorry for. (A re match I have also been BEGGING for, for an entire year now) And I will be missing out on an opportunity to make the most money I EVER have in my hometown with all of my recent success of 7 consecutive Wins. (Sponsors backing me up, Selling more tickets than I EVER HAVE at home, my biggest purse yet to date with the organization, and lastly, the REVENGE of beating the guy who beat me at home..
I KNEW I HAD TO make it to a decision, so I only got a 7 day suspension, and i could fight my upcoming fight April 13, (20 days after Kimbo)
I took the fight against Kimbo, because I truly don't feel he is a legit pro fighter.... He is a savage brawler, and also BACK IN HIS DAY, was very very dangerous.... Now he is old, and I knew I could last a decision... No way did I think I could actually WIN IT. Then at the end of the first round, I felt myself avoiding his bombs, and finding a home for my punches.
THEN I also thought that he would REALLY be out of shape, because his original opponent had backed out and they hadn't found a replacement yet, so I figured he hadn't been training THAT hard.
Avoid the BIG punches, and last a DECISION= Make a HUGE name for yourself, especially for me being a submission guy! You can see how hard he was throwing in the first round when he was fresh, and that he was trying to take my head off.... I think I got in his head at the weigh ins getting in his face, and telling him "I aint scared" and repeating that in the ring at fight TIME!
I ate a couple good punches early, and felt him getting tired. after landing good shots on him, I eventually started telling him "You wasn't expecting THIS was you?!?!" Trying even more to get in his head, and make him doubt himself, and feel threatened.
I WISH i would have got paid extra for all this CRAP I am receiving...
And thanks to those of you who take the time to congratulate me. Those who KNOW I would NEVER take a dive in ANY fight.
I ALMOST beat that Monster. Think I BS'd? BOOK THE FIGHT AGAIN. with an actual CAMP to prepare for him.... Even on only 2 weeks notice. I will SMOKE that fool. PEACE
Well, that seals the deal: with all those caps, this guy has to be telling the truth. The world will keep on turning, Cris Cyborg's monthly steroid tests will completely clear her name, and we can all keep telling ourselves that it’s not a form of exploitation to be fans of Kimbo. However, now that Kimbo has the highest rate of suspicious occurrences in fights this side of Nobuhiko Takada, I invite all interested parties to post their photoshops of Kimbo hitting a gong in a diaper in the comments section.
Videos of the other three rounds of the match can be seen here.

Iffy knockout takes away from Kimbo's comeback
Here's the last round of Kimbo Slice's boxing match from over the weekend. Kimbo comes back from losing on the scorecard to knock his opponent out with 3 seconds left in the fight. Amazing! Exciting! Inspiring! Well, not really. Check out the footage - the knockout comes at around 4 minutes. Does that look like a legit knockout to you?
This wouldn't be the first time Kimbo's combat sports career has attracted a fishy smell. His first opponent Bo Cantrell went down the first opportunity he got. There was that iffy stoppage in the James Thompson fight. And lest we forget Standgate, where Seth Petruzelli was basically asked by EliteXC promoters not to take Kimbo down.

Fedor might go fight in India
M-1 Global makes a lotta money off of Fedor Emelianenko, but it's safe to say they make more when they hire him out to other shows than when they have him fight under their own banner. So while they have their own promotion that could accommodate Fedor quite nicely, the goal is probably to find some new 'partners' with deep pockets to book their main man up.
That hasn't been as easy as it has been in the past - money mark promotions still exist but not to the same degree as in the past with groups like Bodog and Affliction. It got so bad that Fedor himself hinted at the possibility of returning to the US and *gasp* real competition! But all may not be lost. Fedor may still be able to keep fighting second rate opposition internationally:
Sources tell Fighters Only that the Russia is top of the target list for the newly-emerged Indian promotion Super Fight League, which staged its first event last month.
...
“Fedor is definitely a fighter we would consider and would be honored to have fight in the SFL,” said SFL executive Ken Pavia when Fighters Only contacted him to ask for a comment on the source’s claims. But Fedor carries a top-tier price tag - can SLF afford him, and would he be worth it?
“Realists have to put him at the top of the pound-for-pound list given the longevity of his dominance. The participation of such a legend could only enhance an emerging fight promotion,” Pavia replied.
Over at M-1 headquarters, Fedor’s management allowed that Super Fight League could be of interest to their man if the appropriate deal was in place.
“We are of course flattered by Pavia's statement and if there are any concrete proposals for co-operation, Fedor and Vadim will of course seriously consider them,” said Evgeni Kogan, currently in Russia but usually to be found heading up of the M-1 office in Holland.
The Super Fight League has only been around for one event but from what we've seen so far they're totally the kind of promotion that'll pony up way too much money way too early in their development for Fedor. Fedor is the ultimate big dick symbol for wannabe Dana Whites. He's the Maserati of MMA. And now that he tanked in Strikeforce, maybe his pricing has gone down to the point where he doesn't murderize every promotion he touches. He still ain't gonna be cheap though. Vadim and the M-1 gang have to eat, you understand.

TUF Brazil premieres on the internet this Sunday
TUF Brazil is finally here and will begin airing this Sunday at 11:30PM. But before you start fiddling with your remote trying to figure out where that stupid FUEL channel is hiding (answer: on another cable provider), get this. FUEL isn't showing it. Instead you'll have to go to the TUF.tv website to catch the show.
Meanwhile, FUEL continues to try and ram a dizzying array of UFC news shows down our throat. What is it gonna take to convince FOX execs that we want fights, not talk about fights? Is it so shocking that no matter how slick the production might be, we'd rather see Wanderlei Silva coaching a bunch of crazy Brazilians than some fat sportscaster behind a desk ponying up hype pieces?
I can only imagine the moronic conversation at FUEL that led to this decision. "Well, we could have the first piece of must see international UFC content but that would mean having a show with subtitles, and according to our data UFC fans can't read. Let's stick with more Thrillbillies reruns instead."
Hey, I'm not complaining. This makes it easier for everyone to watch TUF Brazil.
