Ryan's steady hand guiding Falcons

With a Pro Bowl appearance under his belt, the bar was raised for Matt Ryan after the 2010 season. GM Thomas Dimitroff made the marquee move of this year's draft, trading up 21 spots to select Julio Jones sixth overall and Ryan arrived at training camp with the most talented group of targets he had been surrounded by since he entered the league in 2008. There were flashes early in the season, but, for the most part, the results on offense did not live up to the hype. Poor pass protection affected Ryan's play in the early going, but it has improved and Ryan is coming off two of his best games. Despite the struggles, the Falcons' faith in Ryan never wavered and the team's confidence in Ryan has never been greater. The coaching staff recognized Ryan's methodical management of the no-huddle offense and has gone to it more often as the team has turned things around and fought its way into the thick of the playoff race.
