Who's laughing now, Rumble?

Fun fact: Vitor's last submission win was Bobby Southworth in 2001.

This should come as a surprise to absolutely no one: Anthony "Crumble" Johnson has been fired from the UFC after his three-punch combo of missing weight in epic fashion, laughing about it on Facebook, and then gassing and falling apart in the cage.  So sayeth the Baldfather:

"I knew what the decision was when I talked to you on Friday," White told MMAjunkie.com. "This is his third time. Listen, the guy was having problems making 170 pounds. He wanted to stay at 170 or whatever his deal was. You go to 185, and you blow it as bad as he blew it? That's bad, man."

. . .

That said, White said he's not forever ruling out the potential for Johnson to return to the promotion at some point.

"I don't dislike the guy," White. "I like him very much actually. When you talk to Anthony Johnson, he's a good guy."

"I don't know who you blame in this one. Do you blame him? Do you blame his team? Do you blame his camp? I mean who takes the blame in this one? Ultimately, you're a grown man. You're responsible for your own actions."

Yeah, it's hard to say that he didn't fuck up somehow, yet that's exactly what his camp has done, claiming it was due to "medical reasons".  I'm not a doctorologist and I've never cut weight before, but I think I know what it means when you're nearing your target weight and start feeling sick, then suddenly feel all better when you rehydrate... it means your body was shutting down and you weren't going to make it.  It's not like you had a very short-lived disease or drank miracle spring water.

This was by far the worst Rumble (or possibly anyone) has ever missed weight, which obviously begs the question: WTF happened?  Considering how much he struggled to hit 170 lbs, I'd think he would've already been well-sized for 185.  And he looked lean enough in his training video, so it's not like he got all fat.  Did he bulk up and overshoot middleweight entirely?  Even Rumble himself seems confused:

"A loss is a loss," Johnson said. "My legs just got really tired. I didn't get beat up in there, and he really didn't hurt me with what he hit me with. I just got tired. I've got to figure this thing out."

Well I guess he'll have plenty of time in the land of Bellator to give it a good think.

As a quick aside, Belfort's camp made Rumble weigh in again at 205 lbs the day of the fight, but Dana says "there are no plans" to institute day-of weigh-ins as a regular thing, even if only for information purposes.
