The 49ers announced Friday that head coach Jim Harbaugh will retain four assistants from 2010 for his coaching staff.
Offensive line coach Mike Solari, defensive line coach Jim Tomsula, running backs coach Tom Rathman and assistant offensive line coach Ray Brown will remain with the 49ers.
Tomsula was the team's interim coach for the Niners' season finale.
The Niners also hired former Browns assistant Brad Seely as their special-teams coordinator, replacing Kurt Schottenheimer.
Harbaugh said he and GM Trent Baalke have not met with free-agent QB Alex Smith.
The way we see it
Harbaugh has his staff all set now heading into the Senior Bowl next week in Mobile, Ala. It's nice to see the team retain Tomsula, who had to take over after Mike Singletary was fired. Smith will be a big decision for the Niners if Harbaugh, the former QB himself, wants to keep building around the former No. 1 pick.
