Former titlist Yuri Foreman (pictured at right) of Brooklyn, New York has agreed to terms for a March 12 bout opposite New Jersey junior middleweight (154 pounds) Pawel Wolak on the under card of a main event featuring WBA junior middleweight king Miguel Cotto against ex-belt-holder Ricardo Mayorga at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Wolak's manager, Ivan Edwards, confirmed on Monday."I received a call from [Top Rank Promotions] about 25 minutes ago and they said that Yuri just came to terms," said Edwards. "That was about an hour ago. So we're glad that it's done."
The news was first reported by Rick Reeno of BoxingScene.com.
Wolak (28-1, 18 knockouts) and Foreman (28-1, eight KOs) are part of a stacked pay per view event headlined by Mayorga (29-7-1, 22 KOs) of Managua, Nicaragua, and, Cotto (35-2, 28 KOs), of Puerto Rico, that will also highlight the return from a 14-month layoff of former world champion female boxer, Christy Martin (49-5-3, 31 KOs).
Also expected to be included is Gary Shaw-promoted, lightweight (135 pounds) contender, Lenny Zappavigna (25-0, 17 KOs) of Australia pursuing his third consecutive stoppage and his first world title against IBF belt-holder Miguel Vazquez (27-3, 12 KOs).
The 79-year-old duo of Top Rank Promotions' CEO, Bob Arum, and, Don King, are running the show.
