Three draft prospects test positive for marijuana

Pro Football Weekly has confirmed the Foxsports.com report that two potential top-50 draft prospects, Georgia OLB Justin Houston and Iowa DT Christian Ballard, both tested positive for marijuana at the Scouting Combine.

PFW also has learned that Florida OL Maurice Hurt, a later-round prospect, also has tested positive for the drug.

Rumors of Ballard's failure ran rampant last week but could not be confirmed until late Monday night. Several league sources told PFW recently that Ballard informed teams during the interview process that he suspected he might test positive.

Houston has been linked to several teams in the back end of the first round, including heavily to the Packers at No. 32.

PFW draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki believes both players' draft stock could be hurt and that there is a chance either one could slide to Round Three. NFL decision makers' concerns about habitual marijuana usage and testing positive again in the future might prevent teams from taking them in the first two rounds.

Hurt might not be drafted now, although it wasn't a guarantee he would before the positive test.
