Browns part ways with director of player development

The Browns have fired Jerry Butler, who spent the last 10 years as the team's director of player development.

Butler spent nine seasons in the NFL as a wide receiver with the Bills. He joined the Browns when they returned to the NFL in 1999 and coached the wide receivers for two years.

According to the team, the dismissal was not related to the current lockout.
