Redskins coaches issue letter supporting owners

A day after the NFL Coaches Association filed a brief in support of the players in the 'Tom Brady vs. NFL' antitrust suit, a group of Redskins assistant coaches issued a letter stating they support ownership in the labor dispute.

Seventeen Washington coaches, though not head coach Mike Shanahan — he is part of the franchise's management as vice president of football operations — signed the letter. It said that the Washington staff is not in line with their colleagues in the NFLCA. Instead they are on the side of management in the negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement with the NFL Players Association.

"We stand united with our ownership, and the brief does not reflect our thoughts on the matter," the letter reads, according to Albert Breer of NFL.com. "We, like everyone else, are hopeful that we can return to playing football. We look forward to a new CBA, and welcoming back our players as soon as possible."
