Giants will work Amukamara into rotation

First-round CB Prince Amukamara has had only a handful of practices with the Giants following foot surgery, and the team will not rush him back into action. When the Giants had a completely healthy secondary, Amukamara was starting the season as the fourth corner. Now, the ranks have thinned, and he would be in line to be the nickel corner once he is up to full strength. But the plan remains to work Amukamara into the lineup over time and see what he can handle. Amukamara admitted that he experienced some pain in his foot with the extra practice workload prior to Week Eight. Plus, he just needs reps, as this is the equivalent of being the first week of training camp for the rookie. "He is rusty," defensive coordinator Perry Fewell said. "(Thursday) was the second practice (back from injury), and he's only had three practices (as a Giant). It's going to take him a little time. I'm very excited to see him on the field working."
