The NFL confirmed it is looking into the concussion suffered by Chargers OG Kris Dielman in last Sunday's loss to the Jets. Dielman suffered a grand mal seizure at the end of the team's charter flight back to San Diego.
According to The Associated Press, NFL VP Brian McCarthy said the league is reviewing the injury with the team, medical staff and NFLPA.
Dielman suffered the concussion with about 12 minutes left in the game. He finished the game, and the team announced the injury before it left New York.
Dielman, a four-time Pro Bowler, has been cleared of long-term complications after the seizure.
"Everything was handled extremely well," said head coach Norv Turner. "All the proper precautions were taken. Kris was evaluated when we landed, and all the tests were excellent. We're fortunate, he's fortunate and we're moving on."
Dielman has not taken the league's official concussion test and hasn't been cleared to play. He is expected to miss at least two games. The league is very strict when it comes to monitoring head injuries, considering the long-term health implications that have come to light recently.
