Bradford wins AP Offensive Rookie honors

Rams QB Sam Bradford was named The Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year on Friday.

"This is a great honor," Bradford said. "I'm grateful for the recognition, but I wouldn't be receiving this award if it weren't for my teammates and coaches. There were a lot of people around me that contributed to my success as a rookie, and I'm extremely appreciative of each of them."

During an impressive campaign in which he nearly led the Rams to a division title, Bradford set new NFL rookie records for completions (354) and attempts (590). His 3,512 passing yards are the second-most ever by a rookie, trailing only Peyton Manning's 3,739 yards in 1998. Bradford also tossed 18 touchdowns passes, which is tied for fifth-most by a rookie in NFL history.

Pro Football Weekly announced in January that Bradford was the winner of the PFW/Pro Football Writers of America Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
