Report: Bowers had postseason knee surgery

According to reports, Da'Quan Bowers, a presumptive high pick in this year's draft, had knee surgery at the end of the 2010 season to repair a partially torn meniscus.

Bowers led the nation in sacks with 15½ in '10, on his way to winning the Ted Hendricks Award, given to the best defensive end in the country, as well as the Nagurski Award, given to the top defensive player. Bowers is one of a handful of candidates to be the first player chosen in this year's draft.

It is not yet known if Bowers will be able to participate in Combine drills next week. Bowers may only be able to do certain drills, or he may not work out until Clemson's Pro Day.

The way we see it

While it is never a good thing to have an injury, it's too early to make any judgments on how this will affect Bowers' stock. A lot will depend on how he works out and teams' medical evaluations, which will undoubtedly be more closely scrutinized as a result of today's news.
