Art Schlichter, a former QB for the Baltimore Colts, is being investigated by authorities on a ticket swindle scheme that could be worth millions of dollars.
According to the Columbus Dispatch, Schlichter promised people tickets to a variety of events, including the Super Bowl and Ohio State football games, with his connections. Instead, the former QB is planning to rip these customers off.
The news is hardly a surprise. The newspaper reports that, "Since 1994, Schlichter has served time in 44 prisons or jails, mainly for fraud and forgery for having swindled people out of money or writing bad checks to feed his addiction to gambling on sports and horse races. Those close to him estimate that Schlichter has flushed away millions while gambling."
The way we see it
It is a shock that, given his history, anybody would trust Schlichter with their money. But apparently there is a group of people in Dallas awaiting tickets from the former QB who will be out of luck. Ticket fraud is a common occurrence around major sporting events, but it's rare that a former NFL QB is the head of it.
