Bears rookie report: Week Four

Five of the Bears' nine rookies were active in Sunday's win over the Panthers.

Dane Sanzenbacher made a catch for 16 yards on a second-quarter drive that ended with a punt, and he didn't make a catch the only other time QB Jay Cutler targeted him. Cutler threw only 17 passes in the game, and Sanzenbacher remains the top slot receiver with Earl Bennett sidelined by a chest injury.

The other four rookies contributed on special teams. Undrafted rookie TE Kyle Adams was on the field and cleared out a defender on Devin Hester's 73-yard kickoff return. S Chris Conte, a third-round pick, was also on the kickoff-return unit, and Hester may have taken that kickoff all the way back for a touchdown if Conte had made a block on PK Olindo Mare, who ended up knocking Hester out of bounds.

Chicago's first- and second-round picks — ORT Gabe Carimi and DT Stephen Paea — were both inactive. Carimi is still recovering from a subluxation of his right knee, and Paea was a healthy scratch for the fourth straight game.
