The Chargers placed ILB Stephen Cooper on injured reserve (biceps) and agreed to terms with LB Gerald Hayes.
Cooper suffered the injury to his right biceps in the preseason and was hoping to avoid going on I.R. In five games this season he made one tackle. Last season, Cooper started 11 games and made 43 tackles, six passes defensed and an interception. Cooper has been with San Diego since entering the league in 2003.
Hayes, a free agent, spent eight seasons with the Cardinals. He was injured last season and played in only six games, but recorded 33 tackles.
