Dolphins cancel Monday presser for Sparano; job safe through bye

The day after dropping to 0-4, the Dolphins have canceled head coach Tony Sparano's regular Monday press conference. According to Greg Cote of the Miami Herald, the decision came because of the team's cross-country trip from San Diego back to Miami left Sparano and the coaching staff little time to evaluate game film or diagnose injuries.

Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said that "timing and logistics" were the reason the conference was canceled.

On Sunday evening, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported that Sparano was not at risk to be fired this week, which is the team's bye. A source told the newspaper that the head coach was "certain" to be on the sideline on Oct. 17 when the Dolphins travel to the Meadowlands to take on the Jets on "Monday Night Football."
