The Falcons intended to be more explosive on offense this season, but maintaining balance between the pass and run was still their goal with RB Michael Turner in tow. They have failed miserably in that attempt thus far. The production has been mediocre (20 points per game), and 69.9 percent of the offensive plays have been pass plays. That's a major departure from Atlanta's breakdown between the pass and run last season, which was about 55 percent pass plays to 45 percent run plays. Trying to rally from significant deficits has been a culprit in their lack of balance this season. The Falcons have trailed by 10 points or more in every game. Getting Turner and the other backs more carries is a priority for coordinator Mike Mularkey, but the offense is going to have major problems until the front five starts to do a better job of getting a push and keeping pass rushers off QB Matt Ryan.
