Nigerian-born cruiser weight (200 pounds) Lateef Kayode was pushed to the 10-round distance for the first time in his career on the way to being awarded an unpopular unanimous decision over Nicholas Iannuzzi of Tampa, Fla., in Friday night's Showtime televised bout at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, Calif.
Kayode rose to 16-0, with 14 knockouts, ending a streak of 14 straight stoppages since his only route-going performance -- a four-round unanimous decision over Mike Miller in his professional debut in August of 2008.
Kayode won by scores of 95-94, 97-92, and, 98-91, respectively, on the cards of Ray Balewicz, Ralph McKnight, and, Steve Morrow.
Iannuzzi was penalized a point by referee Raul Caiz Jr. for hitting after the final bell.
