Agbeko, Darchinyan, Mares, Perez Stoke Showtime Tourney

Colombian-born, IBF bantamweight (118 pounds) champion Yonnhy Perez (pictured above, second from left), a Santa Fe Springs, Calif., resident, dethroned Ghana's Joseph "King Kong" Agbeko (pictured at far right, above) by unanimous decision for his crown on Halloween of 2009.

But on Saturday night, at Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Wash., the 31-year-old Perez (20-0-1, 14 knockouts) will rematch the 30-year-old Agbeko in a semifinal of a Showtime televised, four-man tournament.

"Our No. 1 thing," said Perez, "is to try to wear down our opponents."

But Agbeko will be in the ring for the first time since losing to Perez, and is anxious to get his revenge.

"I'm going to be sure that this time," said Agbeko, "I will take care of his head."

The other semifinal will feature a battle of youth versus experience as 34-year-old, rising former WBC, WBA and IBF super flyweight (115 pounds) champion Vic Darchinyan (35-2-1, 27 KOs) of Australia, defends his IBO bantamweight crown against Mexican-born Abner Mares (19-0-1, 12 KOs) of Montebello, Calif.
