Fells quietly makes presence felt for Rams

Rather quietly, versatile TE Daniel Fells has become a very reliable receiving weapon for rookie QB Sam Bradford, establishing career highs in catches (38) and receiving yards (352). "He's been very solid. If he becomes a free agent with the rules staying the same, the Rams will face an interesting situation," one team insider said of Fells. "He could do a little better as a blocker. But he'll flash some real playmaking ability. He's a hard worker, and he's accountable, too." Ideally, we hear the Rams would like to bring all three of their primary tight ends back. Fells has shared the load this season with Billy Bajema, who is mainly a blocking specialist, and rookie TE Michael Hoomanawanui, who has displayed impressive flashes as a receiver but has had real problems staying healthy. "The key is how much they feel they can depend on Hoomanawanui, who also had ankle problems at Illinois," the insider said.
