Giants place Hixon on I.R., re-sign Clayton

The Giants have placed WR Domenik Hixon on season-ending injured reserve and re-signed WR Michael Clayton, the team announced Friday.

Hixon tore his ACL for the second time in two years in Monday night's win against the Rams.

Clayton, a former first-round pick of the Buccaneers, played six games for the Giants last season. He was cut during training camp this season.

The Way We See It

Clayton adds much-needed WR depth after all of the injuries the group has suffered thus far. The good news is Clayton has familiarity with the offense after having spent part of last season and all of training camp with the team.

However, don't expect his production to resemble his rookie season, when he had 80 receptions for 1,193 yards, as he is a serviceable, replacement-level player at this stage of his career.
