The Patriots signed S Ross Ventrone to the 53-man roster from the practice squad on Monday and released OL Donald Thomas.
Ventrone has played in five games this season, spending time on the active roster and practice squad.
Thomas, a third-year pro, has played in four games.
Ventrone adds depth to the Patriots' secondary and could see time on special teams in Monday night's game against the Chiefs.
