The Colts have placed CB Jerraud Powers on injured reserve with an arm injury and brought back veteran RB Dominic Rhodes.
Powers broke a bone in his right forearm during the team's Week 13 loss to the Cowboys. He has started all 10 games he has played this season, recording 53 tackles and two interceptions.
Rhodes has spent seven of his eight NFL seasons with the Colts, including 2001 when he rushed for 1,104 yards and nine touchdowns. In 2008, he started four games and rushed for 538 yards and six touchdowns.
Starting RB Joseph Addai has been out since Week Six and RB Mike Hart suffered an injury on Sunday. Undrafted rookie Javarris James led the Colts in rushing against Dallas with 18 yards and two touchdowns on six carries.
The way we see it
Losing Powers is a major loss for the Colts. He has been the team's best corner this season and their other starter, Kelvin Hayden, missed Sunday's game with a neck injury, leaving them with Jacob Lacey, Justin Tyron and Cornelius Brown.
The Colts need to run the table and Peyton Manning has had to work with the worst rushing attack of his career. Signing Rhodes is a bit of a desperate move, but the Colts need to win now if they want to make the playoffs and avoid missing out on the postseason for the first time since 2001.
