Patriots MVP meter: Week 13

PFW associate editor Kevin Fishbain presents a running meter that indicates the Patriots' top five MVP candidates up through their most recent game.

1. QB Tom Brady: With another near-perfect performance, Brady left little doubt who the league's top MVP candidate is. In his record 26th consecutive home win on "Monday Night Football," Brady threw for 326 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. He continues to make new Patriots records, now having thrown 228 passes without an interception, a streak that has lasted seven games. He leads the league with 27 touchdown passes and a 109.5 passer rating.

2. WR Wes Welker: Moving around the field to set up favorable matchups, Welker hauled in seven passes for 80 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown. He is third in the league with 72 catches and leads the Pats with 672 receiving yards and seven receiving touchdowns.

3. CB Devin McCourty: Lauded as one of the better corners in the league by NT Vince Wilfork, McCourty picked off his sixth pass of the season Monday night, giving him the rookie lead. The six picks tie him for second in the league. He added two tackles and another on special teams.

4. ILB Jerod Mayo: Mayo finished the game with a team-high 12 tackles, boosting his season total to a league-leading 143. Mayo led a Pats defense that had its best outing of the season, holding the Jets to three points.

5. RB-WR Danny Woodhead: Woodhead gets a slight edge over BenJarvus Green-Ellis and his 11 touchdowns because of Woodhead's value to the team out of the backfield, replacing Kevin Faulk. Against the team that waived him, Woodhead had four catches for 104 yards and a couple of rushes for 11 yards. He has 689 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns.
