Promoter Gary Shaw expects WBC light heavyweight (175 pounds) king Jean Pascal of Canada to honor his contractual obligation to rematch Shaw's client, southpaw former WBC interim titlist Chad Dawson of New Haven, Conn., "in March or April," before considering a return bout against Bernard Hopkins of Philadelphia.
Saturday night's Showtime televised match before Pascal's partisan fans at the Pepsi Colesium in Quebec City, Canada, ended in a controversial, majority draw between the 28-year-old Pascal (26-1-1, 16 knockouts) and the 45-year-old Hopkins (51-5-2, 32 KOs). Pascal was coming off of his fifth straight win, which was August's HBO-televised, 11th-round technical unanimous decision victory over Dawson (29-1, 17 KOs) that was staged at Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada.

Shaw and Pascal's promoter, Yvon Michel, told FanHouse that they expect WBC president Jose Sulaiman to support their agreement, even as Golden Boy Promotions' CEO, Richard Schaefer, is set to file a protest seeking an immediate rematch for Hopkins that would negate the one for Dawson.
In this Q&A, however, Shaw took shots at Canadian officials and judges. Shaw cited a controversial, majority draw of November, 2009 in Quebec, City, when his lightweight (135 pounds) fighter, South Africa's Ali Funeka, appeared to have dominated his Golden Boy Promotions' Dominican-born rival, Joan Guzman, for the vacant IBF title. Guzman's white trunks were stained with blood that flowed from Guzman's broken nose and from a cut above his right eye.
In October of 2008 at Bell Centre, a decision by Romanian-born, southpaw IBF super middleweight (168 pounds) champion Lucian Bute (27-0, 22 KOs) of Canada over Mexcan-born, Librado Andrade ended controversially as a long county by Canadian referee, Marlon Wright, appeared to have helped Bute to survive a near-final round knockout
