Vikings-Packers first-quarter reflections

The Vikings looked like the better team in a first quarter in which Ryan Longwell’s 24-yard field goal provided the only scoring, Longwell’s score was set up by three big plays — Adrian Peterson’s 24-yard gallop after bouncing outside, Brett Favre’s 19-yard floater to rookie RB Toby Gerhart and a 29-yard reception from Favre to Greg Lewis down the left sideline.

On defense, both Ray Edwards and Jared Allen made their presence felt early with sacks for big losses.

The highlight for Green Bay was the good-looking first down picked up by rookie RB Dmitri Nance, who never stopped churning his legs.CB Chares Woodson is off to a strong start; he really laid the wood on an end-around.
