Three-and-out with Bears DE Henry Melton

Second-year veteran Henry Melton earned a spot in the rotation at defensive end this season after spending all of last year on injured reserve with an ankle injury. The 2009 fourth-round pick has made a sack in each of the past two games and he has 13 tackles through the first 10 games. PFW caught up with Melton this week and asked him when things started to click for him this season and how to go about slowing down Eagles QB Michael Vick.

You seem to be getting more recognition for your play than you were earlier in the season. Are things just starting to click for you or do you feel like you've been clicking all season long?

Melton: "I've been doing pretty good throughout the season, but the only thing that really stands out for a defensive lineman is sacks. I get a couple sacks and people are starting to notice what I've been doing out there. We've all been working hard all season long and they're just going to keep coming."

What's the key to slowing down Michael Vick when he tries to break away and make plays with his legs?

Melton: "It's going to be fun. I've been watching Michael Vick and playing with him on my game system since I was younger. Now I get a chance to corral the guy and keep him contained."

There's a high school game being played at Soldier Field on Friday. Do you guys hope they tear up the turf so the field will be sloppy and you can slow down Vick?

Melton: "It's going to be great. It's going to be cold. It's going to be a little wet. It's going to be messy and hopefully that does slow him down."
