We hear a concerted effort could be in the offing in the desert to add free-agent linemen on both sides of the ball. "No question," one team insider said. "I could see people in one board room concentrating solely on quarterbacks, and another room working mainly on linemen. On the offensive line, they could possibly be looking to fill all three interior spots, although it really looks like they will re-sign C Lyle Sendlein. On the defensive line, the starters are set, but the backups are mostly free agents." Most close observers were particularly surprised the team chose to totally ignore offensive linemen in the draft with OLG Alan Faneca ultimately opting to retire, and free-agent ORG Deuce Lutui appearing more motivated than ever to get the most lucrative deal possible. "I know they like (backups) Rex Hadnot and Jeremy Bridges, but you would have thought they would definitely address the line in at least the second or third round," the insider said.
