Johnson to meet with Titans in Nashville

Titans RB Chris Johnson will head to Nashville to meet with GM Mike Reinfeldt on Wednesday. Johnson has been holding out for a new contract.

"Flying out to Nashville tonight to meet with Joel and the GM in the morning to see which way we're going. Could get better or worst," Johnson wrote. Joel is his agent, Joel Segal.

Johnson did not report to training camp when it began on July 29. Reinfeldt has said the team is willing to make Johnson the highest-paid running back in the NFL.

Johnson led the league in rushing in 2009. Last season he finished fourth in the league with 1,364 rushing yards.

The way we see it

The Titans have maintained that Johnson needs to be in Nashville for negotiations, so this is a big step toward getting him back on the field. There is very little behind Johnson at running back, despite the successes the Titans have had running the ball in the preseason.
