Talks between the NFL and NFLPA recessed on Friday evening, and the two sides won't meet face-to-face until Monday, multiple media outlets reported.
"The talks have recessed for the day. Negotiations will continue," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello tweeted just before 6 p.m. ET Friday.
The day began with the ruling from the Eighth District Court of Appeals that the lockout was legal. An NFLPA source told PFW that while the ruling "caused a little mayhem" on Friday, the goal was still to get a new Collective Bargaining Agreement done by July 15.
According to NFL Network's Albert Breer, owners and players are not expected to rejoin the talks until Tuesday or Wednesday, with lawyers and other personnel from each side meeting on Monday in New York. Communication is supposed to continue, though. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported Friday that each side's legal teams will continue to work over the weekend.
Breer reported on his Twitter feed that "movement has slowed seriously" in talks between both sides. Mortensen, writing on Twitter, said of recent negotiations, "Not a good two days."
The way we see it
While both sides said in a joint statement that, regardless of the ruling, they will continue to work toward a settlement, the announcement of the ruling clearly slowed negotiations. July 15 has been a date referenced as a target date since negotiations resumed in June, and it is still attainable, but there is now less than a month to the Aug. 7 Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.
