Patriots LB Tully Banta-Cain underwent surgery last Friday for an abdominal tear, an injury that will keep him on the sidelines when training camp opens. The news was first reported by Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe.
It is estimated he will miss four to five weeks of practice time.
Banta-Cain made 45 tackles last season, including five sacks, and started five games for the Patriots. He is expected to be a major contributor on the defense again this upcoming season.
