Peyton Manning gets his wish, as UFA RB Joseph Addai has agreed to a new contract with the Colts, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
The sixth-year veteran battled injuries last season and played in just eight games. He rushed for 495 yards and four touchdowns. Addai began his career with back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons.
Manning accepted a cheaper deal than Colts owner Jim Irsay wanted to give him. He had said earlier in the week that, while he respected Irsay's goal to make him the highest-paid player, he wanted money to be spent on teammates such as Addai.
The way we see it
It's a bit of a surprise that Addai returned, but there doesn't appear to be a huge market for veteran running backs. Addai will likely continue to split carries with Donald Brown, while rookie Delone Carter could see some looks.
