Is Tito going to retire when he loses?

While Dana White wasn't willing to comment on Tito's claim that he had to beg the promotion for another fight, there was no pussyfooting around what was going to happen if Ortiz lost to Bader - he'd be out of the UFC. But does that mean he'd retire? Tito addressed the situation at yesterday's UFC 132 press conference:

"I still think I have a lot more fight in me," he said. "I'm going out on my own terms. I fight the top competitors, the top guys in the world. Every one of my fights in my last four losses I fought top guys in the world."

But if Bader pulls off the victory on Saturday ? and oddsmakers are giving him about an 80 percent chance of doing so ? Ortiz seems content if it'll signify the end of his 14-year career. After all, he's pleased with his accomplishments.

"I think Saturday night will tell everything," he said. "My goals, I think I've achieved everything under the sun in mixed martial arts. I've done things many things people have never seen. I'm thankful for it."

Lemme clarify this for ya: there's no way Tito's gonna retire after this. The UFC firing will just lead us into another hellish round of free agency - for those who remembered the last batch back in 2008 / 2009, let me just tell you now it was not enjoyable. Every day a new promotion was wooing Tito, and he was slutting it up with all of them for headlines. While you gotta give Dana White a hand for fanning the flames of fans' Tito hatred, I still think it was Tito being a douche during this period that really turned the corner for a lot of people.

And why would it be any different now? Does Tito seem like a guy who's lost his love of money? Didn't he just split up with his Sugarmomma? Are there not several promotions trying to become the new number 2 in North America? Aren't they all run by old-ideas morons who are clueless enough to think Tito's worth serious money? Isn't 205 so thin outside the UFC that Tito might actually win a fight again?

In case you were wondering, the answers to those: it won't be any different, hells to the no, yes, yes, unfortunately yes, and probably not but at least it'll be fun to watch him fail.
