Patriots RB Ridley makes solid first impression

Patriots RB Stevan Ridley was not only one of the first rookies at camp, but one of the first backs to report. The new CBA rules kept BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Kevin Faulk and Sammy Morris from practicing until Aug. 4. The way we hear it, Ridley, an inside runner out of LSU, has been impressive. As a blocker, he has not shied away from taking hard hits. Ridley carried that momentum into the Patriots' first preseason game and made his mark. He had 16 carries for 64 yards and two touchdowns and seven catches for 47 yards and one TD. Both of Ridley's rushing touchdowns came from one yard out. Ridley, who is built like Morris, told PFW back in May that he is most productive between the tackles, and he showed that against the Jaguars, but he also performed well catching balls as the third-down back. Ridley's ability to push the pile should get him goal-line touches during the season.
