Shields and MacDonald want a piece of Fitch

Is it just me, or did BJ Penn kinda expose what you need to do to beat Jon Fitch? Well, right up until he ran outta cardio. But if you were driving a car to Vegas and it runs outta gas right outside the city limits, you don't doubt the directions you took. You just make sure you got enough fuel to get across the city line. Where before you couldn't find anyone excited at the prospect of getting Fitch'd, there's now several high profile guys gunning for a shot at the UFC's most prolific wrestlefucker. First, Rory MacDonald:

"I'll fight anyone," MacDonald told the ESPN UFC Podcast. "A lot of people don't want to fight Jon Fitch, but I'll gladly fight him, anybody.

And then Jake Shields:

?I fight whoever they tell me, but when they asked me (to fight) Ellenberger, my first reaction was I want to fight someone like B.J. or Fitch,? Shields said on MMAWeekly Radio Weekend Edition. ?But they wanted me to fight Ellenberger and it was a main event. I?m willing to fight whoever they want. I?m not one to say no, especially if it?s a main event. So I said, ?sure, I?ll do it.? But I was hoping to fight Fitch on the San Jose card.?

Jon Fitch has been sitting on the sidelines forever recovering from shoulder surgery, but he recently said he only wants to fight champs or former champs when he gets back. That might preclude Rory from getting a chance to really test out his 'Next Big Thing' creds ... or it might not since Dana White doesn't sound like he's big on Fitch trying to matchmake himself:

?What guys want to do and what's going to happen are two different things. If we can give him all champions and ex-champions, we'll see. He's going to have to fight who we say he's going to fight,? UFC president Dana White said at the weekend.
