Patriots rookie Cannon almost done with cancer treatments

Patriots fifth-round draft choice OL Marcus Cannon will complete his chemo therapy this week after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in April.

In an article released Sunday in the Star Telegram, Cannon tells reporter Charean Williams that he has been able to keep up his weight and maintain his workouts despite the cancer treatment he began in April. The final chemo session is set for this week, and the former TCU star plans on being on the field whenever New England's training camp begins.

Cannon said he has kept his weight up (he's currently 348 despite stretches of not wanting to eat anything due to the effects of the treatment) and can still bench press 315 pounds.

"All I can do is keep doing what I'm doing," Cannon told the newspaper. "That's to keep praying and accept my healing."
